Introduction

Scotland, with its breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and dynamic cities, is a top destination for travelers seeking adventure and discovery.

Why Scotland?

My parents asked me where I wanted to go for our next family trip, and I immediately thought of Scotland. They said: “Why Scotland?” I replied: “For the castles, the landscapes, and the Celtic culture!” They agreed, and we began planning our Scottish adventure.

Trip Preparations

We booked our flights, found comfortable accommodation in Edinburgh, and planned our itinerary to include the main attractions I wanted to see.

Accommodation and living costs in Edinburgh are expensive. Book your accommodation several months in advance for better rates.

Glencoe is a spectacular valley, ideal for hiking and photography.

Practical Tip

We took the bus to explore the Highlands, which is an affordable and practical option. However, it is very long and tiring for a family with children.

Glasgow

Glasgow is a dynamic city known for its architecture, art scene, and nightlife.

Kelvingrove Museum

The Kelvingrove Museum houses a vast collection of art and artifacts, perfect for a family visit.

West End District

Glasgow’s West End is a lively neighborhood with many cafes, shops, and parks.

Glasgow Necropolis

The Glasgow Necropolis is a fascinating Victorian cemetery, offering a panoramic view of the city where the latest Batman film was shot.

Travel Tips

Best Time to Visit

Autumn (September to November) is an excellent time to visit Scotland, with beautiful colors and fewer tourists. Personally, I visited Scotland in October, and I loved the autumn colors of the Highlands. ;)

Clothing to Pack

The weather in Scotland can be unpredictable, so bring waterproof clothing and warm layers.

Transport

Renting a car is a popular option for exploring the Highlands, but public transport is also available.

Currency

Scotland uses the pound sterling (£). Make sure you have cash, as some places do not accept cards.

Language

English is the main language, but you will also hear Scottish Gaelic in some regions.

💡Scottish English

English spoken in Scotland can be difficult to understand due to the Scottish accent. Do not hesitate to ask for clarification if needed.

Here is a selection of photos taken during my trip to Scotland. Each image captures a unique aspect of this fascinating country, from its majestic castles to its picturesque streets.
